Reading a book cover to cover can be challenging.  The Bible is no exception.  Each of us should have a time set aside to daily read the scriptures and using a reading guide to help us be more disciplined can make a great deal of difference.  Statistically, there  are 929 chapters from the Old Testament and 260 chapters from the New Testament, so please expect to read more from the Old Testament than the New.  You will cover roughly 3 to 5 chapters a day in your reading.

Carefully choose your Bible. You'll be reading for 365 consecutive days! Choose your Bible well. Make sure that it is a translation or paraphrase that is easily understandable, or perhaps one that is new and fresh to you.  For the beauty of the English Language and the one of the most accurate translations is still the King James Bible.

Realize that disruptions will come. Accept the fact that, in all likelihood, at some time during the next year sickness, business, family, or travel will cause you to fall behind in your reading. Read what you can when you can. If you fall behind, try to catch up at the first opportunity. Remember, your mission is to read through the entirety of God's Word. To do it in a year is just a goal. If it takes you fourteen or fifteen months instead of twelve, you will still have accomplished your mission!

Allow God to apply the scripture to life. In reading the Scriptures, remember that you are handling the Word of God, not just another book from the store. Approach it prayerfully. Ask God to help you take His Word to heart in ways that will impact the way you live.
