Wake Up America

Romans 13: 11 ¶ And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.  12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. [editor]

Point Of View

It is not surprising to see the secular media blindly white- washing every issue with a "politically correct" brush, bending over backwards to assuage every errant leader or movement and pressing for "peace at any cost." However those with spiritual insight cannot join this ludicrous cacophony. It is foolish at best, dangerous at worst, and the lives and souls of men hang in the balance.

America has experienced a very straightforward, "in your face" wake-up call. The violence and brutality we have dispassionately watched happening around the world has come to our own soil. Has taken our lives. Has forever changed our landscape; the skyline of one of our major cities has been inexorably altered. Inasmuch as the beauty of creation is the fingerprint of God, the horror and heartbreak of deliberate destruction is the fingerprint of another god -the god of this world. His name is Allah. He is the ancient serpent that came in the beginning to deceive and destroy, and who will, in the end, spend eternity in the lake of fire along with those who follow him. His time is short and he is hard at work. His mission is simple: to deceive, to steal and to destroy.

Political correctness and negotiation will not pacify this hateful god or his followers. We feel good about ourselves when we extend grace and kindness to those that despitefully wound us - maybe even Christ-like. But is this the expression of love we are called to? Certainly we are to pray for the eternal souls of those, who in their deception, serve another god. Surely God is their creator and loves them. But if we truly love, are we not to expose this darkness, this truth as well? We have an object lesson before us of titanic proportions that the worship of the god of Mohammed is a danger to the whole earth. This god is opposed to all that is good and full of life. This god is insatiably brutal to his own followers -causing them to live in utter devastation and deprivation. This god robs his followers of compassion and kind- ness and gives them a false hope of salvation. But we tell the world that it is only the radical fundamentalists that are problematic. Is this true or does it just sound more palatable?

In Israel (then Palestine) in 1929, Jews and Muslims lived side by side, shared their lives, their children, were business partners and close friends -until one August evening, while the Jews celebrated Shabbat, a call came from the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem to slaughter the Jews. Arab neighbors, friends and business partners arose -without ANY warning or provocation -and raped, tortured and brutally massacred the Jews of their communities. The tiny community of Hebron suffered the worst with 150 Jews either murdered or injured. There was no dispute over land at that time--it was purely a religious issue --of the armies of Allah rising up against "the infidels." Until that moment, the Jews would have said that Islam is no threat to them -that they not only live peacefully side by side in their communities, but they also enjoy close relationships with their Arab neighbors. Until that moment.

When the Arab nations were formed through Ishmael, God promised that they would be great in number, however, He also promised that they would be "a wild donkey of a man" and their "hand will be against everyone." (Gen. 16:12) We have seen this fulfilled in our generation. In serving Allah, the god of Mohammed, Muslims become servants to the enemy of men's souls -the devil himself. This god has raised himself up to oppose the God of the universe. He is a liar -he is the "FATHER of lies" and he lies to his followers, and through them, he lies to the world. We see leaders like Arafat speak very sincere1y to the world press saying, "We abhor the killing of innocent people!" and other Islamic clergy and leaders (ministering alongside evangelical Christians) stating, "Islam teaches the sanctity of life and forbids the killing of innocent people." But this is doublespeak.

For according to their holy writings, we are NOT innocent -we are the infidels -the only "innocents" are those who are in perfect submission to Allah -(which is what Islam means.) So, they can say with great conviction that their religion abhors the killing of innocents, as indeed it does, but this does not mean that their religion abhors the killing of "us" -Christians, Jews, Americans, Israelis, Afghanis, whatever. This is why Islam is such a fertile breeding ground for radical extremists and mass murderers. This religion also promises a glorious heaven to all who die as martyrs to this bloodthirsty god. It is the nature of Satan to deceive, to use and then to ultimately  destroy those who serve him. Therefore, we are doing no favors to these followers of Islam by pat- ting them on the back and saying they are nice people and their religion and god are nice. These very people will face eternal torment at the end of their days as they go along their way with our blessings and kind words.

This battle is ultimately not over the land of Israel or America or Europe, it is the battle of two spiritual kingdoms. What we saw on September 11th is merely the tip of the iceberg -collateral damage of a colossal spiritual battle. We know the end of the book -we know who wins. Which side do we want to be on? Can we compromise with this?

But what about this wonderful unity that is happening? And people of all faiths or no faith are praying together -isn't that good? On the surface, it is good, but not all that is "good" is "God." The Bible asks us: "what partnership does light have with darkness?" (II Cor. 6:14) The only true unity is unity of truth. Otherwise we are unequally yoked with unbelievers and the unity is formed by human hands -much like the story of Ishmael -we are helping God by doing things in our own way. We will not effectively build something that can stand and represent Him.

It is not built on a solid foundation, therefore it is temporal and ultimately without value, a nice picture, but deceptive. The anti- Christ system will bring a unity to all the earth -even peace -for a season. But that unity and peace will ensnare and destroy men, and true believers will be put to death for their uncompromising faithfulness to the truth. Compromise will always be popular, but you can't please God and man -you must choose. We have seen world famous Christian leaders embrace Islamic leaders and call them "brother." Yeshua said, "For whoever shall do the will of My Father who is in heaven, he is My brother and sister and mother: " (Matt. 12:50) Now read excerpts from the Quran -the holy book of Islam and see if these commandments qualify its followers as "brothers":

"Take not the Jews and Christians for friends.  Lo! Allah guides not these wrongdoing people." (Surah 5:51) "The only reward of those who make war upon Allah and His messenger and strive after corruption in the land will be that they will be killed or crucified, or have their hands and feet on alternate sides cut off, or will be expelled out of the land."  (Surah 5:49)
".And let not those who disbelieve suppose that they can over- come. Lo! They cannot escape. Make ready for them all you can by armed force." (Surah 8:59-60a)

As ambassadors of God, we are to be God's arm extended to a lost and perishing world, yet without truth, we are powerless. His way is narrow. It is uncompromising. It is not politically correct. It is even foolish to those who are perishing. But it is the only way to life and the only way to show the love of the one, true God of the universe. His way is not the way of the world, but it is the way -and the only way- to eternal life. --S. Weiner

Dear Editor,
In 1964, Yassar Arafat founded the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). At that time Judea and Samaria (West Bank and Gaza) and East Jerusalem were not a part of Israel. They were under the control of Jordan. If these areas, which Arafat wants today for a Palestinian State, what exactly did he want to liberate? Obviously, his goal then and now is to remove Israel from the area entirely. Why did he not push for a Palestinian State in those areas from 1948-1967 when Jordan , liberate the entire region from the "Jewish Zionists."
Wake up America! Arafat was a terrorist hijacking planes over 30 years ago. He has never been our friend or ally, but Israel always has been. --Stephen Yulish

"In the near future, the major division within the church will be over Israel as a nation and God's choice of the Jewish people. Those who reject Israel and the Jew, God will reject. The Christian churches that take a stand with the Jews will prosper in the midst of persecution and judgment. Besides prayer and repentance, what should we be doing? Look no further than Proverbs 11 :3Ob: "He who wins souls is wise." --Sid Roth
