| 10/04/2002 Kingdom is largest humanitarian supporter of Palestinian people |
| Riyadh, 10th April 2002
Secretary General of the Arab Organisation of Red Crescent and Red Cross Abdulghani Ashi has said the Government and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia represent the largest humanitarian support in the region and the world for the Palestinian people in their brave Intifada against Zionist aggression and injustice. In a press statement, he said that continuing the Kingdom's efforts to provide aid to the brotherly Palestinian people, the Saudi Committee for Supporting al Quds Intifada provided this week six trucks loaded with food, medicines and medical equipment as well as 24 new highly-equipped ambulance cars. This aid was handed to the Embassy of Palestine in the Kingdom to deliver it because it is difficult for the Saudi Red Crescent workers to enter the occupied territories in this sadly tragic situation, Ashi said. Ashi added that nine million Saudi Riyals have been transferred to the families of the martyrs, the handicapped, the injured and the detainees. With this, the total amount transferred by the Saudi Committee to the beneficiaries of the families of the martyrs, the handicapped, the injured and the detainees since the beginning of the Intifada until now has reached 212,000,000 Saudi Riyals, he concluded.
